Rex Pruitt, First PREMIER Bank and SDSUG (South Dakota SAS Users Group), and Lyle D. Dabbert, Brown & Saenger, were the Ambassador Team of the Month for June. Karen Noonan, Carriernet Group Financial, Inc., was the Diplomat of the Month for June. Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, took second place honors and Tami Ekrem, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, took third place honors for June. Sioux Falls Rotary North elected its 2008-2009 Board of Directors in June. These members assumed their respective positions July 1. New Faces/Promotions

Brett Stolz joined the staff of Elite Business Systems as an account executive. Stolz is a graduate of Augustana College with a degree in Management Information Systems. He was recently a sales associate at Factory Express in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Eric Olson
joined Beck and Hofer Construction, Inc. as a Commercial Superintendent. Olson is a South Dakota native with more than 12 years of construction experience. He attended South Dakota State University where he earned his degree in Construction Management with a minor in business.

Bryan Ahrendt
is a Web Designer/Coder at Media One Advertising/Marketing. Ahrendt graduated from Dakota State University with a bachelor's degree in Multimedia/Web Development and Computer Graphic Design.

The Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science hired Tyler Sharp as its new Director of Marketing. Sharp, a South Dakota native, will be responsible for guiding the tone of future marketing and sales initiatives for activities and featured programs at the Washington Pavilion. Previously, he served as a Trade Sales Representative for the South Dakota Office of Tourism and was primarily responsible for business-to-business marketing to domestic travel agents, domestic meeting and convention planners, and group tour operators and journalists from Japan. Michele Wellman is the Pavilion's new Director of Public Affairs and Premiere Events. Wellman, a native of Massachusetts, will be responsible for the overall ongoing public relations efforts of the Washington Pavilion and each of its program areas. Wellman has 19 years of experience in marketing/public relations project management. Most recently, she worked for six years in marketing and communications at Sanford Health.

Tammy Beintema joined the business development department at Miller Sellers Heroux Architects. Beintema has more than 10 years of sales and marketing experience.

G. Jeffery Hines joined Bartlett & West as a senior project manager in the firm's Rural & Regional Water Division in its Sioux Falls office. He will provide additional technical capability in the water and wastewater engineering field. He has more than 30 years experience managing the design of water supply, treatment and distribution systems, as well as wastewater collection and treatment systems. In addition, Hines will support efforts to increase the firm's presence and active involvement in Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities.

Dean Karsky, Farmers Insurance Group/Karsky Agency, was recognized by Farmers Insurance for his outstanding sales achievements in 2007. Karsky was inducted into the Farmers' "Toppers Club" of Farmers' top sales producers.

Work created by Insight Marketing Design received two 2008 Prism Awards from First Night International for design of First Night Sioux Falls marketing materials. The button Insight created for First Night Sioux Falls was awarded first place. The poster for First Night Sioux Falls was the First Runner Up. These awards recognize uniqueness in graphic design and quality of production in capturing the First Night spirit on the poster, admission button and web site. A team of professional designers adjudicates the entries and the awards are presented annually at regional meetings and annual conferences.

Jerry Dahmen, News Director of Results Radio/Cumulus Media's KXRB Radio, received 14 Associated Press broadcasting awards, including the prestigious Overall Excellence Award in the state-wide competition, a regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television News Directors Association, and seven Eric Sevareid Awards from the Northwest Broadcast News Association in Minneapolis.

Good Deeds

The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Military and Veterans Affairs Committee spearheaded fundraising to purchase 21 American Flags for the Avenue of Flags to further enhance the aesthetic effect of the Veterans Memorial Park. The committee successfully raised $5,400 with donations from the following individuals and Chamber member businesses: AGC of South Dakota Building Chapter; Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center; Climate Systems, Inc.; David Nordlund; Gil Haugan Construction Company; Great Plains Chapter of Military Officers Association of America; John Morrell & Co.; Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation Small Grant Fund; Thomas Van Wyhe; and Wal-Mart West #1535.
