Building on Tradition: Sioux Empire Fair expands, improves
Leadership from the Sioux Empire Fair Association is trying new things for the 2012 fair, including expanding the length of the annual event and adding to the entertainment options. The goal is to provide a fun event that reminds attendees why they have a "love affair" with the Sioux Empire Fair, also the theme of this year's fair.

The nine-day event — up from six days in years past — includes all types of music and entertainment, from classic rock and country to magic shows and "hair" bands. Local musicians and a battle of the bands will appear on the Front Porch, Bridlewood Barn and Community Stage. we enjoy a great quality of life

The Sioux Falls area is fortunate to have the backing of businesses that step up to the plate for major community events, like the recent JazzFest and Sioux Falls Airshow. Through the support of the business community, our quality of life is enhanced through the opportunities to participate in events like these — and many of them are free because of that support.

Perhaps this summer more than ever, it's appropriate that the business community says "thank you" to our area farmers and producers. The lack of rain is posing a challenge for ag producers — affecting both crops and livestock now and in the months to come. We can't control the weather, but we can take time out to appreciate those who work in the trenches in feeding our nation. ...Read Full Story
