Rex Pruitt, PREMIER Bankcard and SDSUG (South Dakota SAS Users Group), and Nathan Schmidt, Wells Fargo Bank, were the Ambassador Team of Month for June.

Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club, was the Diplomat of the Month for June. Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, took second place honors and was also recognized as the June Reinvestment Blitz winner. Tammy Beintema, Miller Sellers Heroux, took third place honors. The June Diplomat Team of the Month includes: Captain Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club; Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank; Mike Teslow, Swenson Investments & Commodities and Uncle Ed’s Specialty Meats; Wade Thomas, Dakota Lettering; and Marshall Selberg, Key Real Estate.

NEW FACES & PROMOTIONS

The Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau welcomed Mattie Burnham as Sales Manager for the sports and events market in Sioux Falls. She is a Nebraska native and graduated from Wayne State College with a bachelor’s degree in sports management.

Jill Blom recently joined the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce staff as a Web Developer and IT Coordinator. She has experience in various web, IT and graphic positions since graduating form Augustana College in 2003. Most recently she worked for a renewable energy investment company.

Nathan Baune was appointed a Financial Representative by Northwestern Mutual Financial Network with the Lowrey Financial Group. Previously, Baune was a customer service manager at the Schwan Food Company in Sioux Falls. He is a native of Wabasso, Minn., and received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota and an associate’s degree from Ridgewater College. John Kramer was appointed as a Financial Representative by Northwestern Mutual Financial Network with the Theobald Financial Group. Previously, Kramer was an Area Sales Manager for Younkers in Sioux Falls. Kramer is a Sioux Falls native and received a bachelor’s degree and MBA from USD.

Sioux Falls Rotary North elected its 2009-10 Board of Directors, including the following Chamber members: President Shelli Masek, Handyman Matters; President-Elect Paul Phalen, South Dakota National Guard; Vice President/Public Relations Chair Tammy McKillip, First Premier Bank; Past President/Administration Chair Lee DeLange, Electronic Systems, Inc; Foundation Chair Bert Olson, The First National Bank in Sioux Falls; Secretary Amy Hartman, The Carroll Institute; Treasurer Tim Hamel, U.S. Bank; Sergeant-At-Arms – Charlotte Schwab, National/Alamo Car Rental; Membership Chair Carl Tonjes, Compro Inc; Service Projects Chair Brad Rippentrop, Olympic Wall Systems; and Board Members: Bruce Card, TetraTech; George Lapp, Merrill Lynch; Kobi Harleston, TSA; and Dennis Wheeler, Wheeler Tank Manufacturing.

Insight Marketing Design promoted Kari Geraets to Production and Traffic Manager. Her responsibilities include tracking all projects from inception to completion, overseeing print production, and working with vendors. She has been with Insight for four years and was previously Production Manager. Brandon Tilus was promoted to the new role of Interactive Strategist. His duties include the development and implementation of strategic interactive marketing plans for Insight clients. His expertise includes social media, website optimization, search engine marketing and user interface and he will oversee all web projects for Insight.

AWARDS

StarMark Cabinetry received the Employer of the Year award at the 15th annual Festival of Cultures. Sponsored by the Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls, the Festival of Cultures is an event to foster understanding and acceptance of ethnic diversity. The city’s diverse population is reflected in StarMark’s workforce, which includes immigrants from more than 21 nations.

HONORS IN INDUSTRY

Marco was recently presented with the Brian Klinefelter Foundation Family-Friendly Workplace Award. The award recognizes Minnesota employers that have implemented family-friendly practices to foster a positive workplace and allow employees to be involved in growing great kids in the community. Marco received the award in the category of mid-sized business. Marco is a 100% percemt employee-owned company, with 265 employees at nine locations throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

HenkinSchultz and Avera Health were honored with three awards, including two golds, at the 2009 Aster Awards, a program focusing on the best health care marketing in the nation. Each year the Aster Awards recognizes excellence in healthcare marketing and advertising.

Two Miller Sellers Heroux Architects recently earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional certification. This certification distinguishes individuals who have demonstrated detailed knowledge of sustainable design practices and who, by their knowledge can lead a building project through LEED certification. Lynn Remmers, an Architect-in-Training, joined the company in 2007. David Sellers, Senior Principal at MSH Architects, joined the company in 1994.

Lindsey Swenson, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network-The Lowery Group, was awarded the Pacesetter 60 award during the 129th Annual Meeting. Pacesetter 60 honors financial representatives who sell 100 life insurance policies in their first 12 months in the business.
