Liz Lloyd, Lloyd Real Estate-Liz Lloyd, and Lyle Dabbert, Brown & Saenger, were the Ambassador Team of the Month for October.

Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club, was the Diplomat of the Month for October. Second place went to Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, and third place went to Debra Peterson, CorTrust Bank. The Diplomat Team of the Month for October was: Captain Sheila Hoff, Lloyd Companies; Micki Lundin, Waddell & Reed, Inc.; Karen Noonan, Carriernet Group Financial, Inc.; Debra Peterson, CorTrust Bank; and Jim Slater, ServiceMaster of Sioux Falls. The Reinvestment Award Winner for October was Wendy McDonnel, Kilian Community College. The Ribbon Cutting Attendance Award Winner for October was Nathan Stallinga, South Dakota Achieve.

Paul Krueger is the new president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Dakota. Most recently Krueger served as a director of development at Augustana College. Krueger holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and communications from Augustana College and a master's degree in Administrative Studies from the University of South Dakota. Krueger replaces Mary Olinger, who is retiring. Olinger will be honored for her 18 years of service to Make-A-Wish at a public open house celebration Dec. 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the Make-A-Wish office (1400 W. 17th St.)

Face It! Sioux Falls appointed Mary Hitzemann as its new executive director. Previously, Hitzemann was senior vice president of human resources at Home Federal Bank. She has also served as board chair for Face It! Sioux Falls and is a longtime community volunteer. Jon Sommervold, Simplified Wealth and Investment Management, is the new chair of the board. Hitzemann will leverage her business background to expand the non-profit's innovative initiative to bring recovery and addiction support into workplaces across the community. Hitzemann has been instrumental in establishing the program, which currently involves 17 employers, reaching more than 15,000 employees in the region.

Dr. David Kapaska was recently named regional president and CEO of Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center. Dr. Kapaska previously served as senior vice president of Medical Affairs at Avera McKennan.

Sarah Even is the new Communication Director for the South Dakota Soybean Association.

Sharon Knoll returned to Media One as Director of Account Services. In her new position, Knoll will be responsible for agency service quality and new business coordination. She brings more than 20 years of experience in sales, media and marketing strategy to the position.

Jack Pereira joined AppShark as Managing Director Americas. Previously, Pereira had leadership roles at UPS, Inacom, Cap Gemini and Ernst & Young. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and graduated from the School of Chartered Accountancy in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Good Deeds

Four Sioux Falls classroom teachers were awarded Adopt A Classroom grants from the Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union to help them teach financial literacy to their students: Mary Skinner, Washington High School; Rochelle Pierson, All City Elementary School; Janelle Lenser, Roosevelt High School; and Theresa Bruggeman, Harvey Dunn Elementary School. All four projects are to be completed in the 2010-11 school year.

Michael S. McKnight, a partner at Boyce, Greenfield, Pashby & Welk, was named "Labor and Employment Lawyer of the Year" in Sioux Falls by Best Lawyers.

Insight Marketing Design received seven MarCom Awards from the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, including three Platinum Awards, .two Gold Awards and two Honorable Mentions. The MarCom Awards are an international competition for marketing and communication professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of marketing and communication programs and print, visual and audio materials.

High Point Networks was named Extreme Networks' 2010 Diamond-Level Top Contributor for its North American Channel Partner Program.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of South Dakota was the recipient of four awards at the organization's 30th anniversary national conference: Outstanding Mission Performance (for the most wishes granted in a year; the chapter granted 63 wishes last year); Outstanding Chapter Achievement; Outstanding Fundraising Performance; and Wish Fulfillment Fund Partnership Award.

Four area veterans were honored at the 2010 Veterans Day ceremonies for outstanding achievement to their organization, community and country: Richard Albrecht, North Central Chapter Paralyzed Veterans of America; Ken Laughlin, Disabled American Veterans; Mark Williamson, Military Order of Purple Hearts; and Rick Towns, The American Legion Sioux Falls Post 15. The ceremonies were sponsored by the Chamber's Military & Veterans Affairs Committee and area veterans organizations.

Michelle Lavallee, senior vice president of Strategic Marketing and Communications at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center, was honored by the University of South Dakota's Beacom School of Business with the Distinguished Service Award:

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) awarded Jan Feterl, Assistant Vice President of Marketing for RAS, with their 2010 Member of the Year Award.
