Where the jobs are:
Sioux Falls area adding jobs, new businesses
Population growth plus investment have equaled positive news for the Sioux Falls area in terms of jobs and positive workforce developments across the state.

“Job growth requires population growth requires job growth,” said Mary Medema, Forward Sioux Falls Workforce Development Director. “They’re not always going to run parallel in a nice, straight line, but jobs drive people and vice versa.”

In Sioux Falls, it appears that population increases may have impacted much of the growth. Figures from the U.S. Census show that the population of the Sioux Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which includes Minnehaha, Lincoln, McCook and Turner counties, grew by 22 percent from 2000-10. Employment also went up by 11.5 percent in that same time period; some of that growth can be attributed to the addition of McCook and Turner counties to the MSA, as they were added in the last decade. ...Read Full Story
