David Johnson, DAKOTACARE, was the Diplomat of the Month for November. Second place went to Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club, and third place honors went to Duane Noerenberg, Anderson Group CPA. The Reinvestment Award went to Tammy Beintema, Sioux Falls Business Magazine, and Kelly Grovijahn, Homewood Suites by Hilton, was awarded the ribbon cutting attendance award. The Diplomat Team of the Month for November was: Captain Janel Cole, POSTNET SD 103; Duane Noerenberg, Anderson Group CPA; Nancy VanOtterloo, First PREMIER Bank; Jill Melchert, Farmers Insurance Group-Jill Melchert Agency; Daren Anderson, Big D Technology Solutions; and Tom Fallon.

Sandy Case, Case by Case Consulting, was recognized for 20 years of service to the Diplomat Committee.

HONORS IN INDUSTRY

The South Dakota Office of Tourism awarded the following Sioux Falls businesses as 2012 Great Service Star Program Designees: Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History; Holiday Inn City Centre; J&L Harley-Davidson, Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Staybridge Suites. The Great Service Star Program is designed to identify and recognize businesses that complete a set of criteria for hospitality training of their employees, offer a comment mechanism for visitors, and recognize employees for great service. Participants meeting the criteria will be awarded a star symbol for use in marketing their business and to demonstrate to visitors their commitment to “Great Service.”

SESHRM recognized the following individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of human resources and represent the best in the HR profession: Senior Professional of the Year Lynne Hagen, Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center; Professional of the Year Justin Rey, Sencore; Human Resource Advocate Melissa Moerike, Good Samaritan Sioux Falls Village; and Student of the Year Amanda Schemmel, Colorado Technical University.

Touchmark at All Saints won the Gold Award for The {Full} Life brochure from the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA). Touchmark at All Saints is part of the Touchmark family of retirement communities. ICAA received about 70 submissions from companies throughout the U.S. and Canada. Entries were judged by a panel of experts on the 50-plus market.

GOOD DEEDS

Global Spectrum, operators of the Sioux Falls Convention Center, delivered more than $450 in gifts donated by staff members for 30 children at Children’s Care Hospital & School.

NEW FACES & PROMOTIONS

Michelle Lounsbery is the new executive director of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of South Dakota Building Chapter. Lounsbery comes to the AGC from the Southeast Technical Institute Foundation. Lounsbery holds a Juris Doctorate degree, an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in Business Administration, all from the University of South Dakota.

The Sioux Falls State Theatre Company hired Stephen Williamson as Executive Director. Williamson, a Pierre native and University of South Dakota graduate, has called Sioux Falls home for nearly two decades. He has a professional background in both fund development and public relations.
