Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, was awarded Diplomat of the Month for March. Second place honors went to Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club, and third place honors went to Duane Noerenberg, Anderson Group CPA. Bill Rezac, Boen & Associates, Inc., was the recipient of the Retention Award and Carrie Dragt, Midcontinent Communications, won the Ribbon Cutting Attendance Award. The Diplomat Team of the Month for March was: Captain Marshall Selberg, Lloyd Residential Group/Keller Williams Realty; Teri Roest, SpeedConnect; Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank; Mary Johnson, Bankers Trust Company of South Dakota; and Nate Engbers, U.S. Bank.

The Chamber held its annual Spring Membership Drive April 5-26 and welcomed more than 120 new Chamber members. Team Billars placed first in the Spring Membership Drive. Team members include: Mark Luke, Mark Luke Construction, LLC; Lynda Billars, The Lynda B. Advantage/Hegg Realtors; and Dean Karsky, Farmers Insurance Group/Karsky Agency. Second place went to Team Lloyd and third place went to Team Weide. The Ambassadors enlisted the assistance of several associates. The Top Associate was Kelly Grovijahn, Homewood Suites by Hilton. NEW FACES & PROMOTIONS

LifeLight Communications announces several new employees to the non-profit ministry organization. Nelson Van Den Hoek joined LifeLight Communications as Facilities Manager. Josh Robertson, Jim Calkhoven and Jolene Groen also joined the staff as Development Associates creating a new ministry team for LifeLight development and donor appreciation.

Kristen Zueger, SIOR, joined the Commercial Brokerage team at Van Buskirk Companies. Zueger’s licensed assistant, Lori Olson, also joined the Van Buskirk team.

StarMark Cabinetry announced several promotions. Jason Arp is now Plant Manager. Arp has a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. Dean Graveman is now Finish Manager. Graveman has several years of experience in the cabinet industry with a strong focus on the finishing component. Brian Smith is now Controller. Smith has an MBA from the University of South Dakota and several years of accounting experience in the manufacturing field. StarMark Cabinetry also hired several new staff members. Ashley Christensen is the financial analyst/cost accountant. Christensen has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Danielle Lammi is in customer service and will graduate from Dakota State University in May with a bachelor’s Degree in General Studies with emphasis in Education, Sociology and Math/Science. Shayna Mitchell is a designer. She received her education at Pima Community College in Tucson, Ariz. Tessica Grant is a designer. Grant has an associate’s degree in Architectural Drafting from Southeast Technical Institute and several years of experience in residential construction. StarMark Custom Cabinetry and Furniture (StarMark Cabinetry’s Sioux Falls showroom) hired Julie Smith as a designer and sales. Smith has several years experience designing with cabinetry and an extensive background in construction and remodeling. She received her education through National Kitchen & Bath Association’s accredited programs.

MSH Architects added Holden Rasmussen to its Intern Architect program. Rasmussen holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and studied abroad in Germany and China.

ANNIVERSARIES

Lyle D. Dabbert is celebrating 40 years of service with Brown & Saenger. He started as a part-time delivery person in 1973 and in 1989 became the owner.

ACQUISITIONS

Marco purchased Hyde Telecom Partners, Inc., a data and telecommunications company that serves clients in central and eastern Iowa. The employees from Hyde telecom have joined the Marco team. This is Marco’s sixth acquisition in the past nine months.

HONORS & AWARDS

For the 14th consecutive year, Century Business Products received the prestigious Premier Dealership award from Kyocera. The award was presented to the three owners, Aaron Gerdes, Kevin Jergenson and Brett Gildemaster, at the Kyocera National Convention. Fewer than 10 percent of the 435 Kyocera U.S. dealers receive this award for reaching manufacturer growth goals year to year. Century Business Products also received the Gold Medallion Service Solution Provider Award for Excellence in Customer Service Solutions at the conference. The company has received this award from the manufacturer for more than 11 years in recognition of their continued investment in technical training on hardware and software solutions.

Erin Steever, project engineer at Banner Associates, was named the 2012 Outstanding Young Civil Engineer of the Year by the Eastern Branch of South Dakota’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). This award recognizes young ASCE members who have made outstanding contributions to the engineering profession and their communities during the early years of their careers. Steever holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering from South Dakota State University.

Sheila Kuchta, Director of Development for Children’s Care Hospital & School, achieved CFRE certification. Kuchta is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals South Dakota Chapter.

Century Business Products, Inc. named Kyle Ruhland and Darwin Viet to Century Business Products President’s Club for 2012. Ruhland and Viet, both of the Sioux Falls branch, were recognized for representing Century’s values, product knowledge and excellence in providing exceptional business solutions to both current and new customers in their territories. This is the seventh consecutive achievement for Ruhland, who has been with Century Business Products for 10 years. This will be the first President’s Club election for Viet, in his third year with the company.

Eric McDonald, DocuTap, was named the inaugural winner of the South Dakota Entrepreneur of the Year award. The award was presented at the Governor’s Economic Development Conference.

As part of National Volunteer Week, Touchmark at All Saints recognized Gail Kristensen and Caroline Deinema, who exemplify the spirit of giving.

GOOD DEEDS

Through several performances for music and comedy fans, $1.2 million was raised in Sioux Falls for the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy, a non-profit music education program for members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire. The Brennan Rock & Roll Academy will provide the first-ever free music education program for children in the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire, focusing on rock & roll instruments and vocals.
