The Ambassador Team of the Month for March was Team Billars: Lynda Billars, The Lynda B. Advantage/Hegg Realtors; Pam Hoffman, "PHD"/Pamela Hoffman Design; and Derek Kattenberg, Real Property Management Express.

Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club, was awarded Diplomat of the Month honors for March and the ribbon cutting attendance award. Second place honors went to Daren Anderson, Big D Technology Solutions, and third place honors went to Dan Johnson, St. Michael Cemetery. Karen Noonan, Carriernet Group Financial, Inc. received the Reinvestment Award.

The Diplomat Team of the Month for March was: Captain Wendy Bergan, YMCA; Duane Noerenberg, Anderson Group CPA; Jim Slater, ServiceMaster of Sioux Falls; Jared VanBockern, Wells Fargo Bank; Dan Johnson, St. Michael Cemetery; and Joey Rotert, Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union.

The Chamber held its annual Spring Membership Drive April 2-25. First place honors went to Team Buckneberg: Dean Buckneberg, Eide Bailly LLP; Lyle Dabbert, Brown & Saenger; and Mark Luke, Mark Luke Construction. Second place went to Team Billars: Lynda Billars, The Lynda B. Advantage/Hegg Realtors; Pam Hoffman, "PHD"/Pamela Hoffman Design; and Derrick Kattenberg, Real Property Management Express. Third place went to Team Weide: Corey Weide, Wells Fargo Advisors, LLC-Corey Weide, and Nancy Weber-Sweere, Midcontinent Communications.

The Ambassadors enlisted the assistance of several associates. Mike Denning, Fireworkz Store, took first place, followed by Angie Wahl, All-Star Travel, and John Weisbecker, Waddell & Reed-John Weisbecker, who tied for second.

The Chamber's Agri-Business Division honored members of its council and volunteers of the year for their efforts in supporting agri-business activities. Volunteers honored included: Cynthia Knudsen, Land O'Lakes/Dean Foods; Kyle Huinker, Rabo AgriFinance; Rollie Crawford; Mitchell Healy; Scott Wick, Sioux Empire Fair; and Thane Barnier, Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce.

NEW FACES & PROMOTIONS

GreatLIFE Malaska Golf & Fitness Club announced the appointment of the following key personnel: General Manager Donn Hill, Director of Golf Jason Sudenga, Director of Food & Beverage Mike Fodness, Director of Fitness/Nutrition ACSM-HFS, CSCS, TP1-1, NASM-CPT Nick Ovenden, Director of Finance Amanda Feldkamp, Director of Human Resource/Membership/Public Relations Cindy Walsh, Director of Corporate Partners Rod Garrison, and Administrative Assistant Trevor Mathison.

Clark Engineering Corporation added Landscape Architecture/Natural Resource/Environmental Services to complement their engineering professionals. Paul Clinton, PLA Landscape Architect, is a Registered Landscape Architect in South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. Clinton has more than 20 years of experience. Karrie Johnson, Minnesota Certified Wetland Delineator and Environmental Specialist, is a certified wetland delineator in Minnesota and has completed the Corps of Engineers wetland certification program for South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska. Johnson has more than 10 years of experience in the natural resource field.

Insight Marketing Design added Nathan Kasselder to its staff as Director of Business Development. He will be responsible for generating new business for the agency and reengaging current and former clients on new and emerging media strategies. Kasselder, a Sioux Falls native, joins the agency after an extensive career in upscale and luxury hospitality sales in Minneapolis, Atlanta and Houston, working for some of the most well-regarded hotel brands including Starwood's W Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, a member of Hilton's Luxury Collection and Preferred Hotels & Resorts.

Home Federal Bank welcomed Mike Kelly to their Mortgage Origination team. Kelly will be located at the Home Federal Bank corporate office in downtown Sioux Falls. Mike was previously a mortgage originator in Omaha and was a top-selling Realtor in Sioux Falls. Home Federal Bank promoted Joe Westphal to Hometown Registered Principal. Westphal is located at the Sioux Falls Main location and started his Home Federal career in February 2003.

Touchmark at All Saints promoted Randy Austin to Life Enrichment/Wellness director. Austin began his career with Touchmark working as the Food Service Manager.

G & R Controls welcomed Matt Ross as a Journeyman Electrician. Ross has many years of experience in residential and commercial HVAC projects.

HONORS & AWARDS

GreatLIFE Malaska Golf & Fitness Club announced that Mike Smith, Central Valley Golf Course Superintendent, was recently named South Dakota Golf Course Superintendent of the Year.

Lisa Leuning, Digital Project Manager at Insight Marketing Design, achieved Google Advanced Certification. In order to achieve Google Adwords Certification, Leuning scored at least 85 percent on the Google AdWords exam and 80 percent on the Advanced Search exam. The AdWords exam ensures that practitioners understand online advertising, including account management and the value of search advertising. The Advanced Search exam focuses on best practices for managing AdWords campaigns.

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) awarded the SESHRM Chapter the EXCEL Platinum Award for 2013. The award is part of the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence, which aligns individual chapters with SHRM. The award recognizes a chapter's accomplishments and strategic activities and initiatives that promote the human resources profession at the local level. SESHRM will be recognized in SHRM publications and at SHRM conferences. Initiatives in 2013 included growing by 3 percent, increasing chapter attendance by an average of 25 percent, and partnering with local veteran agencies (Military & Family Support Coalition) and benefit all involved. In addition, SESHRM was awarded a Membership SuperStar for 2013 for the growth and retention in the chapter.

Credit Collections Bureau named Tom Jackson the Collector of the Month for March.
For the 10th time, Jason Ahrendt, State Farm Insurance, earned President's Club status for 2013, which is based on home, auto and life insurance sales and awarded to the top 50 out of 18,000 agents.

The 48th Annual South Dakota ADDY® Awards Competition was the first of a three-tiered national competition conducted by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). The ADDY® Awards Competition is the industry's largest and most representative competition for creative excellence. The best creative was honored with gold, silver and (or) Best of Class awards. The Best of Class award winners of the night are below. Also honored at the event were Paul Van Veldhuizen, Alphagraphics, as the Silver Medal winner and John Pohlman, Lawrence & Schiller, as the Creative Legacy Award winner. Winners of Best in Class/Best in Show included: Sanford Health: Best of Class Sales Promotion; Lawrence & Schiller: Best of Class Collateral Material, Best of Class Newspaper, Best of Class Television; Insight Marketing Design: Best of Class Direct Marketing, Best of Class Elements; Fresh Produce: Best of Class Out of Home, Best of Class Non-Traditional Advertising, Best of Class Consumer or Trade Publication, Best of Class Integrated Campaigns, Best of Class Public Service, and Best of Show; Lemonly: Best of Class Digital Advertising; Midwest Communications: Best of Class Radio; ADwerks: Best of Class Advertising for the Arts & Sciences; Epicosity: Best of Class Advertising Industry Self Promotion.

EmBe honored 10 women out of 50 nominees for their leadership and contributions to the community. The 2014 Tribute to Women honorees are: Banking & Finance: Kathy Thornson, MetaBank; Education: Sharon Schueler, Sioux Falls School District; Executive Leadership: Stacey McMahan, Koch Hazard Architects; Government and Law: Pam Tiede, Minnehaha County State's Attorney's Office; Healthcare & Science: Arlene Horner, Sanford Health; Nonprofit and Human Services: Betty Ordal, Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce; Professions: Cindy Walsh, Dakota King & GreatLIFE Malaska Golf & Fitness; Sales & Marketing: Stacy Jones, Sanford Health; Sylvia Henkin Mentoring Award: Diana Berkland, Sanford Health; and Tomorrow's Leader: Megan Myers, American Heart Association.

For their dedication to the community, service to others and commitment to helping women achieve their goals, three women were honored as Women of Excellence at the annual Sales and Marketing Executives Women in Business event. Annie Mello, CPMFITness, was awarded the Young Woman of Excellence. Mary Sand, Avera Health, was the winner of Women Mentoring Women Award. Betty Ordal, Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, received the Women Working through the Decades Award.

Good Deeds

Sioux Empire United Way recently awarded $178,811 in grants to several area non-profits; grant amounts ranged from $3,850 to $40,000 and was awarded specifically for new or expanding programs. Recipients included: Active Generations, The Céilí Cottage; Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sioux Falls, Hammering for Humanity; Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership, Heartland House III; Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota, Fatherhood and Families; Multi-Cultural Center of Sioux Falls, Froggy Reads; Ready to Start: Canton, Harrisburg, McCook Central, Sioux Falls, and Tea Area School Districts; Sanford Health Foundation, Child's Voice Family Advocate; and Washington Pavilion, DAPA Plays for Living (Devon's Hurt Performances).
