Dean Karsky, Farmers Insurance Group/Karsky Agency, and Rick Rysavy, Home Federal Bank, were the Ambassador Team of the Year. Together they sold 52 new Chamber memberships during the 2009-10 year. Lynda Billars, The Lynda B. Advantage/the Real Estate Company-Lynda Billars, and Chris Conrad, First Bank & Trust, came in second place with 33.25 new members; followed by Eric Anderson, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage, and Annie Welsh, HJN Team Real Estate-Annie Chicoine-Welsh, placed third with 26.5 new members.

Karen Noonan, Carriernet Financial Group, Inc., was the Diplomat of the Month for September. Second place went to Tammy Beintema, MSH Architects (Miller Sellers Heroux), and third place went to Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank. The Diplomat Team of the Month for September was: Captain Stacy Wrightsman, Sanford Health; Duane Noerenberg, Anderson Group CPA; Mike Parks, Heartland Payment Systems; Nathan Stallinga, South Dakota Achieve; and Jenifer Tobin, Best Business Products, Inc. The Reinvestment Award Winner for September was Jill Melchert, Farmers Insurance Group-Jill Melchert Agency. The Ribbon Cutting Attendance Award Winner for September was Dawn Koenig, AMERI/STAR Real Estate, Inc.

Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club, was recognized as the 2009-10 Diplomat of the Year for his efforts in providing outstanding service to the membership of the Chamber.

NEW FACES & PROMOTIONS

Mark Sohn was promoted to sales representative for Claritus in its Sioux Falls office. Sohn joined Claritus in July 2009.

The Sioux Falls Ice Sports Association (ISA) hired Sue Salter as its Executive Director. Previously, Salter was an economic development director, city administrator, the Education Coordinator of the South Dakota Bankers Association, as well as President/CEO of the Sioux Empire Fair from 1998-2003. Salter oversaw nearly $6 million in infrastructure and facility improvements in her prior positions, and has served on several statewide non-profit boards. Ice Sports Association (ISA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation founded to promote the benefits of all ice-based recreational activities for youth and other ice users in Sioux Falls and the upper Midwest region.

HONORS IN INDUSTRY

Aaron Wimmer, Executive Director of the Family Visitation Center, was recently elected President of the international Supervised Visitation Network (SVN) Board of Directors. The Supervised Visitation Network is an international, non-profit membership organization comprised of more than 600 professional supervised visitation providers and individuals who are interested in assuring that children can have safe and conflict-free access to parents with whom they no longer reside.

For the 2010-11 term, Richard (Dick) Casey, Lynn, Jackson, Shultz & Lebrun, P.C., took office as President of the South Dakota State Bar Association in June and will serve a one-year term.

AWARDS

Several Chamber members were recognized by the Sioux Empire Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) with the 2010 Workplace Excellence Awards. This is awarded annually to acknowledge companies that have made significant strides in employee practices to establish a highly desirable work environment and to recognize them for their leadership, culture and best practices. The winners include: Hematech, in the small category; CNA Surety in the medium category; and Avera McKennan Hospital & University Center and Esurance tied in the large category.
