Community Appeals Capital Drive Schedule

YPN accepting applications for Mentoring Program; deadline Nov. 15

The power of conversations and networking has a lasting impact on our lives, our businesses and our community. Young professionals have a lot to learn from the leaders who have come before them.

And, as a way to foster that learning opportunity, the Young Professionals Network (YPN) Mentoring Program will connect young professionals with accomplished leaders from a broad array of backgrounds and professionals from across community. The program will allow for participants to engage in conversations, share resources and expose young professionals to knowledge that will help shape the future of young professionals.

"The Mentoring Program provides young professionals with the chance to connect with leaders in our community," said YPN Steering Committee Chair Megan Myers, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. "Engaging in conversations, sharing knowledge with one another and helping each other grow personally and professionally will be a win-win for both the mentees and the mentors participating in this program. We are better together when we share skills, information and cultivate relationships with one another."

As a pilot program, the YPN Mentoring Program will build on the opportunities that the YPN can offer to its more than 800 members. The Mentoring Program is designed to allow for small groups of participants to be paired with leaders from our community. The groups will meet quarterly to discuss topics ranging from leadership development, work and life choices, career guidance/progression (such as handling difficult challenges, climbing the ladder, etc.), field specific development (such as entrepreneurial/start-up, building clientele, finance, etc.), networking with other professionals, leadership development and civic and political opportunities (becoming more active in the community and/or local politics).

The YPN is accepting online applications for the Mentoring Program through Friday, Nov. 15. To learn more about the program and to apply, visit Contact YPN Manager Lesa Jarding at with questions.
