We are thankful for our members

November is a month of giving thanks. At the Chamber, we're fortunate to have hundreds of volunteers who we owe a huge debt of gratitude to for all they give to our organization. And this month, we're asking our volunteers to step up in a number of ways.

We kicked off our annual Fall Membership Drive earlier this week. The Fall Drive brings together our Ambassador Committee and their associates to talk to members of the business community about the benefits of belonging to the Chamber.

You don't have to be an Ambassador to help the Chamber — you, too, can refer a member to join the Chamber. Review the list of businesses your company works with to see if there are any non-members. Contact them yourself or pass their name along to the Chamber and we'll call on them to share the many ways the Chamber works to benefit the community. The Chamber grows when members work together and refer to one another. Our community benefits when we help each other grow our businesses.

Hundreds of volunteers will also hand-deliver the 2013-14 Sioux Falls Community Guide, membership decal and information about the Chamber's new mobile app as part of the annual Operation Thank You on Nov. 7. This event is a great short-term volunteer opportunity and a chance to get out in the community and learn more about your fellow Chamber members.

Our Chamber has a long history of supporting the military and veterans and that tradition continues with our Veterans Day activities on Nov. 11. If your schedule allows, please join us for this celebration and be sure to thank a veteran.

We have so much to be thankful for here in Sioux Falls — our strong Chamber and excellent business community certainly contribute to the progress we make every day.

I would be remiss if I did not thank everyone who made our 107th Annual Meeting a success — our sold out crowd, the planning committee and the efforts of HenkinSchultz Creative Services. The resounding message from the night is this: we are all better when we work together and the Chamber is the place to make that connection.

Thank you for being a part of our organization.
