Lynda Billars, The Lynda B. Advantage/Hegg Realtors; Mark Luke, Mark Luke Construction, LLC; and Dean Karsky, Farmers Insurance Group/Karsky Agency; were the Ambassador Team of the Year. Lynda Billars, The Lynda B. Advantage/Hegg Realtors was Ambassador of the Year.

David Johnson, DAKOTACARE, was awarded Diplomat of the Month, as well as the "Go The Extra Mile" award for September. Second place honors went to Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, and third place honors went to Daren Anderson, Big D Technology Solutions. Anderson was also the recipient of the Ribbon Cutting Attendance Award. The Retention Award went to Janel Cole, Cole Notary.

The Diplomat Team of the Month for September was: Captain David Johnson, DAKOTACARE; Daren Anderson, Big D Technology Solutions; Kristina Wolfe, Travel Leaders/Village Travel; Carrie Dragt, Midcontinent Communications; and Drew Cosand, Hegg Companies, Inc.

Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, was the recepient of the 2013 Bernie DeWald Award. This award annually recognizes an individual who has achieved professional distinction and made significant community service contributions both locally and statewide.

NEW FACES & PROMOTIONS

Nikki Pike was promoted to the Branch Manager position for the Sioux Falls Manpower office. Pike has been employed with Manpower since 2008 and has worked in many areas of the industry including both staffing and permanent placement solutions.

Christine Thom joined Beck and Hofer Construction, Inc. as Controller. Thom has more than 13 years of experience in the accounting field. She earned a bachelor's degree in Public Accounting and Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls. Linda Beck Halliburton joined Beck and Hofer Construction, Inc. as Vice President. Halliburton has more than 20 years experience leading businesses to the next level of growth.

LifeLight Communications, Inc. appointed of Tom Gage as Chief Operating Officer. Gage joins founders Alan and Vicki Greene in the executive level management of the ministry. Gage will oversee daily operations and a staff of 15.

Heather Mergen joined RSArchitects to provide interior design and space planning services. She has more than 13 years of commercial experience in the design industry.

Justin Fuhs joined RSArchitects and is a graduate of North Dakota State University with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Design and a master's degree in Architecture.

HONORS & AWARDS

Beck and Hofer Construction, Inc. recognized several individuals for having achieved accident-free milestones in safety: Randy Stone (3,000 accident-free hours), Andy VantHul (6,000 accident-free hours), Dale Olson (6,000 accident-free hours) and Eric Olson (12,000 accident-free hours).

The South Dakota Safety Council awarded a Governor's Safety Award to StarMark Cabinetry for excellence in workplace safety and health. StarMark Cabinetry was one of six company winners to receive an Outstanding Achievement Award.

The SESHRM Chapter # 217 (Society for Human Resource Management) annually recognizes local businesses with their Workplace Excellence Award to acknowledge those companies that have made significant strides in employee practices to establish a highly desirable work environment and to recognize them for their leadership, culture and best practices. These companies are family-friendly with a dedicated workforce consistently portraying a strong culture of empowerment and growth. The recipient of the 2013 Workplace Excellence Award in the small company category (1-100 employees) is Click Rain. The recipient of the 2013 Workplace Excellence Award in the medium company category (101-500 employees) is WOW Internet, Cable & Phone. The 2013 Workplace Excellence award in the category of 500-plus employees goes to Capital One Financial.

ACQUISITIONS

Marco, Inc. purchased the hosted/cloud services business of Twin Cities-based InCompass IT. InCompass IT has provided hosted applications and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for nearly two decades. They led the industry with the adoption of remote support technologies and implementation of managed services and were early to initiate cloud solutions with fully hosted desktops. InCompass IT will continue to operate its consulting business under that name.

Vern Eide Motorcars acquired South Dakota powersports giant MidAmerica Motoplex. Vern Eide Motorcars is a family-owned and operated company
