AWARDS

The Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce received the 2010 Associated School Boards of South Dakota Community Service Award for continued commitment to K-12 education in the Sioux Falls community. In an application nominating the Chamber for the award, the Sioux Falls School Board called the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce “champions” for K-12 education in Sioux Falls and statewide. Sioux Falls officials praised the chamber for their efforts to help establish a Finance Action Network, a group that analyzes and provides feedback on school district budgets and five-year plans — an effort that the Sioux Falls School Board believes has helped build community support for the district’s fiscal plans. The Sioux Falls School Board also praised the business group for their legislative efforts to change the state’s school finance formula.
