The Boys and Girls Club of the Sioux Empire will celebrate the grand opening of its new Reading Corner, made possible through a grant from Capital One. Approximately 20 Capital One volunteers worked at the Eastside Boys and Girls Club to complete the new Reading Corner with activities ranging from assembling furniture and decorating the library to sorting and stocking books. In addition to the more than 250 books provided for the new Reading Corner, Capital One also donated two books to each of the 350-plus students to take home and continue to build their own home libraries. Capital One partners with The Heart of America Foundation© to put books into the hands of children in low-income communities and to create safe, inviting libraries in their schools. Since 2002, the organizations have donated more than 1.3 million books valued at more than $10.5 million to 564,260 students. Capital One associate volunteers annually donate and distribute books, read to children and donate books to further efforts to foster a love of reading in children that will last a lifetime.
