Liz Lloyd, Lloyd Real Estate-Liz Lloyd, and Lyle Dabbert, Brown & Saenger, were the Ambassador Team of the Month for July.

Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, was the Diplomat of the Month for July. Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimist Club, and Duane Noerenberg, Anderson Group CPA, tied for second place honors and Karen Noonan, Carriernet Group Financial, Inc., took third place honors for July. Duane Noerenberg, Anderson Group CPA, was the Reinvestment Blitz Winner for July. The July Diplomat Team of the Month included: Captain Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club; Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank; Jill Melchert, Farmers Insurance Group-Jill Melchert Agency; Wendy Bergan, YMCA; and Janel Cole, Postnet SD 103.

NEW FACES & PROMOTIONS

Alan Van Ormer is the new editor for Prairie Business Magazine. Previously, Van Ormer was self-employed and provided editorial packages for businesses in the region, including work for Prairie Business. Prior to that he worked as editor of two weekly newspapers for Gannett and has a bachelor’s degree in social science from Black Hills State University. Jeff Hanson is the Bureau Chief for South Dakota for Prairie Business magazine. Hanson has spent more than two decades as a key player involved in marketing and public relations campaigns for agencies and Fortune 500 companies. Prior to officially joining Prairie Business Magazine, he was the Director of Public Relations at Lawrence & Schiller, vice president with global PR firm Fleischman-Hillard and public relations manager at Gateway Computers. Hanson is an alumni of Augustana College and has degrees in political science and marketing.

Noonan & Lamfers, LLP is pleased to announced that Eric Maas, CPA, MBA has become a partner in the firm. Maas will become the partner in charge of audit and attest services as well as continuing to provide tax and other accounting services.

Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union recently hired Matthew Hawk as Mortgage Loan Originator and Jessica Miller as Mortgage Loan Processor.

AWARDS

Master Sgt. Casey E. Bullis, a member of the 114th Operations Group of the South Dakota Air National Guard, was the John L. Levitow Award winner for class 10D of the Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Maxwell AFB, Ala. Bullis is one of only a handful of Air National Guard members in the academy’s history to be awarded this honor. She received it due to her outstanding academic achievement, leadership and communication skills, and peer votes while attending the seven-week course.

Junior Achievement of South Dakota won the 10th Anniversary 2010 MetLife Foundation Entrepreneurial Award and a $25,000 grant for demonstrating outstanding innovation and entrepreneurial spirit through the Distance Learning and Participation Initiative. Junior Achievement (JA) and MetLife Foundation have teamed up for the past 10 years to honor the practice of key JA curriculum concepts — entrepreneurship and innovation — at local office levels and to provide funds to expand those efforts.

GOOD DEEDS

The Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union created the Adopt-A-Classroom grant program and will award up to five grants in the 2010-11 school year for projects that include a student financial literacy component. Grants of up to $500 will be awarded directly to teachers to provide them with some of the resources necessary to implement creative ways to increase financial literacy among their students. Any certified K-12 teacher who works in an accredited public or private school within the credit union service area is eligible to apply for an Adopt-A-Classroom grant and application materials have been distributed to all school districts.
