The Ambassador Team of the Month for July was Team Rysavy: Rick Rysavy, Home Federal Bank; Dave Stadheim, RECOM, Inc.; and Derek Kattenberg, Real Property Management Express.

Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club, was awarded Diplomat of the Month for July. Second place honors went to Julie Nelson, Great Western Bank, and third place honors went to Wendy Bergan, YMCA. Dyvig was also the recipient of the Ribbon Cutting Attendance Award and the “Go The Extra Mile” Award. Duane Noerenberg, Anderson Group CPA, won the Retention Award. The Diplomat Team of the Month for July was: Captain Eric Siemers, Viamedia; Jack Dyvig, Sioux Falls Morning Optimists Club; Carrie Dragt, Midcontinent Communications; Kristina Wolfe, Travel Leaders/Village Travel; and John Park, Farm Bureau Financial Services.

Public Affairs & Communications Director

Jill Niedringhaus is the Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau Receptionist/Project Assistant. Niedringhaus previously worked for the Sioux Empire Baseball Association. Alexa Steiner was promoted to Sales Manager at the Sioux Falls Convention & Visitors Bureau. Steiner was hired in March as the receptionist and was promoted in June to Sales Manager.

Dr. Mark Lee has been named the Public Affairs & Communications Director for the Chamber. In this leadership role, Lee will serve as the Chamber’s chief lobbyist and liaison to local government leadership in the Sioux Falls area. Previously, Lee was the Executive Dean of the South Dakota Public Universities & Research Center (University Center) since October 2001. Lee also served in educational leadership positions with Dakota State University and Truman State University (Kirksville, Mo.).

Kristen Stengel joined Furniture Mart USA as Advertising Manager, overseeing advertising and creative operations for its 33 retail stores located in South Dakota, Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa. Stengel has extensive advertising experience, having led brand communication strategies for Subaru of America, Payless and General Mills. Her most recent position was with Carmichael Lynch, where she served as the Account Leader for Subaru of America. Stengel holds bachlor’s degrees in Journalism and Sociology from South Dakota State University.

Brad Kvalheim is the northwest region manager for Border States Electric (BSE). Kvalheim joined BSE in 1989 as an electronic service technician. In 1992, he became utility customer service representative and in 1995, Kvalheim became an account manager. He served as the branch manager in Sioux Falls and most recently was the northwest region utility sales manager for BSE. In his new position Kvalheim will be located in the company’s Bismarck location and oversee BSE branches in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado.

Kole Nordmann is the Project Director of the Sioux Falls Sports Authority. As Project Director, Nordmann will be responsible for assisting in coordinating and implementing activities to attract and secure sports-related businesses and events. Nordmann earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Wayne State College in 2010, and his master’s degree in Kinesiology and Sport Science with a concentration on Sport Management from the University of South Dakota in 2013. For the past seven years, Nordmann has gained experience filling a variety of positions with organizations such as the Sioux Falls Canaries and Omaha Nighthawks.

GOOD DEEDS

Thanks to Verizon Wireless and Corporate Teams, 30 members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sioux Empire received new bicycles. The members were chosen based on attendance to the Club during the month of June. In addition, they also received helmets and bike locks. The bicycles provide needed transportation for Club kids.

ACQUISITIONS

EarthBend acquired the assets and intellectual property owned by Sage Technology Group, LLC. Sage Technology Group, LLC, a Bloomington, Minn. company, focused on virtualization, assessments, proof of concepts, and implementation of solutions mainly in the K-12 education space. Sage helps companies meet modern day IT needs and their strong education practice will boost the current EarthBend education offerings. Sage Technology Group utilizes their cloud focus and variety of hardware and software product offerings to develop the best possible solutions for their customers. EarthBend also acquired the assets and intellectual property owned by East River Technologies. East River Technologies, a Sioux Falls-based company, specializes in business-to-business technology consulting, product procurement, cloud based solutions and services. Both acquisitions further support EarthBend’s focus on supporting its customer base in the upper Midwest through a continually expanded offering and capability set.
